Pyramids with Pop
My daddy pops arrived in Egypt at 2:30 am on Dec 12 and stayed through Dec 24th.
Our main trip (only trip) was to the nearby Giza Pyramids. We planned on taking a Nile River cruise around Luxor to see the landscape and tons of history along the banks... but I got very sick on the 16th and we were unable to do much of anything after that...
Here's a photo of Dad and I on the way to the pyramids. Our driver, Mr. Mussa, stopped on this bridge so we could get a photo infront the Nile River. It only took about 20 minutes to drive here from my apartment.
I love this picture. Cairo, in the background, feels like a continuation of the pyramid stones.
The carriage ride was very bumpy and jerky. Not at all the romantic scene from an old movie, floating along, lost in idle conversation. I felt really sorry for the horse, but of course I would. I wanted to avoid the camels because they looked so tired... but in the end I realized it's much more humane to go the camel route. This poor horse, "Mickey" as our driver told us, had a messed up hoove.
We definitely went the long way around up to the pyramids. Our carriage driver took us through some narrow, back allies, and around to this major road, and then up to the pyramid entrance.
These girls were soooo cute! They kept smiling and saying hello. Very cute.
Mr. Mussa introduced us to his friend, a local scent shop owner, and we had tea together.
Then we hopped back into Mr. Mussa's taxi and headed to CITY STARS, the mother of all malls. While there, we had dinner, shopped for awhile, and then saw "Casino Royale". Very nice day! Thanks for coming Dad!!
:)
